Inti Architecture is meant to be used by architects, planners, designers, solar heating/panel engineers, students, researchers alike for studying the behaviour of solar insolation, at a geographical location, and plan beforehand, the zoning, massing & the orientation of the structures. The app has been developed, keeping in mind the special requirements of designing a building from scratch; deciding on orientation, materials, façade, etc. as regards the Sun.
To prevent any major design changes at a later stage of design, because of projected high energy consumption, the building designer can iterate with the inputs for an optimum result, creating a set of guiding values for design to be based on, before any CAD modeling or drawing is done.
The app takes inputs like geographical coordinates of the site, design inputs like the form factors of the window, walls, etc., construction specifications like materials the roof or the wall is made of.
The app calculates the major building thermal design components influenced by Sun.
The heat through windows and doors with or without external shading.
The heat exchange due to air infiltration.
The heat exchange due to direct solar radiation on walls and slabs.
The app also calculates the solar photovoltaic potential at the coordinates & the heat storage in solar water heaters.
All the above results are modifiable by a change in the design parameters in an easily iterative user interface.
Version 4.0 with an improved interface is scheduled to be launched in the first quarter of 2020.
